Stay and Play

Share in the wonder of nature with your children at our wonderful Stay and Play sessions!

Care for Yourself.

Care for Others.

Care for the
Environment.

Session times are 10.10am-12.10pm on Thursday mornings

Have fun exploring the woods throughout the seasons with your children as they…hunt for mini-beasts; make something in our creative corner; learn new vocabulary; get messy in the mud kitchen; use basic wood crafting tools; build core muscles and coordination whilst climbing trees, clambering over logs and building dens.

Our holistic approach ensures the development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience whilst building bone strength, muscle tone and coordination through a range of activities which enable children to explore and experience the natural world.

Come prepared for the changeability of the Great British Weather – sturdy shoes/boots and clothing that cover arms and legs are essential. We do have canopies for shelter but are essentially open to the elements, so bring lots of layers and waterproofs to help you stay warm and dry. A change of clothes is always advisable for the children, especially if they want to venture to Otter Island, our mini river area. Be prepared for them (and you!) to get messy – it’s all part of the fun!

In addition to making sure your children come suitably dressed to all sessions, at certain times of year, there may be biting insects in the woods, including ticks. We would advise you to supply your child with insect repellant or apply it for them before the start of the session. For more information about how to avoid, identify or manage tick bites, please refer to this leaflet by Public Health England.

Included in the price are hot and cold drinks and a small snack - often cooked on the open fire.

Who’s it for: Stay and Play for parents/grandparents/childminders/carers with toddlers and pre-schoolers. The sessions are also suitable for children up to age 8 who are home educated and not yet ready to be left unattended; they make great "feeder" sessions for our EHE sessions.

Sessions will run term time in every weather condition except high winds or electrical
storms, in which case we will give as much notice as we can. Keep an eye on notifications via FaceBook and text messaging.
